Heart Beats music is a Somerset club for younger adults with learning disabilities. Heart Beats is run by Count Me In. Our team give you the support and opportunities to have friendly fun and play live music on real instruments. Our 'AllStars' project is about playing, leading and teaching music. It’s called 'AllStars' because we believe everyone is musical. We're supported by Youth Music, using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

A Count Me In session
Here's Russ and Jane playing music with the crew from Six Acres (Taunton) and St James' resource centre (Yeovil ). Every month we'd turn up and support the staff to Make Time for Music.
This project's finished now, but you follow the story on our blog Making Time for Music.

Funding for equipment - good news
We can now add this logo to our blog thanks to a kind offer of funding from the Somerset Community Foundation.
They are helping us to purchase some new music equipment especially for Heart Beats. So when you come along we'll have a chat about what instruments you think we should chose.

Co-supervision with James
One of the great things about Heart Beats is that I get to have co-supervision and co-management meetings with James Brookes from SRYP.
James runs the Youth Music Power Play project Soundscape .
Our meetings are a chance to share successes, and what we've learned. That really helps when you're running everything yourself. Sometimes it helps to have another perspective on things.
I'm sure both projects will benefit.

Hello from Russ
Hi I'm Russ.I love trying to get music out of any instrument, even if I've never tried it before.Things with strings are good but I enjoy drums and percussion too.My favourite thing to do is playing music with other people outside on a sunny day.

Hello!
Hello! I'm Alex, I'm another one of the Heart Beats Music Leaders. I enjoy playing lots of instruments in lots of different ways! It doesn't matter to me what I'm playing, the thing I love the most is making music with other people.
I really enjoy making music spontaneously, making it up on the spot in other words! I also think that everyone is a musician, it's just that some people don't know it yet...

I'm a Heart Beats music leader
Hi - I'm Jane and I'm a Heart Beats music leader.
I play guitar, bass, flute, and percussion. I play in two bands, lead workshops and teach guitar.
I like all sorts of music - especially music that surprises me, or makes me smile. Best of all I like playing, especially when everyone else is joining in.
Come and join us!

Welcome one and all to our new HEART BEATS blog.
Hi everyone! This blog is where we can share ideas, news and thoughts about Heart Beats - the new music project run by COUNT ME IN, funded by Youth Music and Flourish Homes.
Heart Beats is a music club for young people with learning disabilities between the ages of 16 and 25 - it doesn't matter where you live, or if you play music yet. We're here to help you do that! Heart Beats happens on Thursday evenings, twice a month in term time, at Wells Museum. The two hour sessions cost £1 per person and start at 6.00 p.m.
To join up, you can email info@heartbeats.org.uk or ring 01373 813558.
We'll use this blog to keep in touch with you, and also share news and ideas with our partner project, Soundscape, which is run by Somerset Rural Youth Project and funded by Youth Music too.
